What is Lawyer Referral Service?

The Hampden County Bar Association sponsors a Lawyer Referral & Information Service that refers members of the public to private attorneys. While our service does not employ attorneys or provide legal advice over the phone, we will provide you with the name of an attorney located within Hampden County who will handle your particular problem.  A public service since 1976 the Hampden County Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral & Information Service is the only referral service in the Western Massachusetts area to be approved by the American Bar Association.  The LRIS matches people with possible legal issues with qualified attorneys. The attorneys are all members in good standing of the Hampden County Bar Association, have completed specific applications to participate and all carry malpractice insurance.  Click here for more information.

Legal Clinic:

The Hampden County Legal Clinic (HCLC) is a public service of the Hampden County Bar Association. The Hampden County Legal Clinic is a legal aid program which facilitates access to justice for residents with low or no income in the Greater Springfield area. If you have an issue regarding a landlord/tenant, civil district court or probate and family matter, you can contact the Hampden County Legal Clinic. The Hampden County Bar Association’s Legal Clinic is sponsored by MassMutual Financial Group and works in conjunction with the Western New England College School of Law’s Housing Clinic, Women’s Bar Foundation, MassMutual Corporate Law Department and Community Legal Aid.  Click here for more information.

Arbitration & Mediation Service:

Arbitration & Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution ("ADR") refers to any means of settling disputes outside of the courtroom. ADR typically includes early neutral evaluation, negotiation, conciliation, mediation, and arbitration. ... Mediation is also an informal alternative to litigation and a more cost effective way to settle your dispute.  Click here to learn more about the Hampden County Bar Association's Arbitration & Mediation Services, including family law, property disputes, auto accidents, and more.
